Imagine it! You're lying on the bed, reading a good book, when your partner appears in the doorway. Her silhouette is absolutely stunning in the light. You close the book and sit up to admire her figure as she parades over to the bed. The lycra material on her outfit is swaying a bit in the breeze and you can't wait for her to reach your arms. As she bends over onto the bed you get a good feasting of her breasts as they lay deliciously in a black lycra bra. Are you getting this visual? No, this isn't an excerpt from any romance novel, it's the kind of thing that can happen when you purchase the right set of lingerie.
For women, lingerie makes a very fashionable statement. Whether she's wearing it underneath her suit at work to make her feel more comfortable and confident or if she is wearing it in the bedroom to tease and tantalize, lingerie offers up a very visual feast for the eyes. While women can become experts in what makes them comfortable men might not have a clue as to what he's looking at (or feeling on). Well I'm sure you know what you're looking at, but what I mean is that if you went shopping for lingerie for your girl would you know the right terms and such to make good informed purchases. Let's sit down and discover what they need to know should they go searching for lingerie for their special someone.
First up is the panties. Those lovely little bottoms that your girl wears. There are actually different variations of panties. Here's three of the more popular versions that you could come across:
- The G-String which is nearly made of, you guessed it, string consists of a small triangular front with string that goes around the hips and up in between the buttocks. While they have a very sensual look, they can tend to become uncomfortable after long periods of wear. You may want to use these when you want your partner to parade around the bedroom a bit. - Under wired Bras are good for women with bigger breasts. It has a slim wire etched into the bottom portion of the cup for added support.
- It's good to know that there are plenty of times you can actually get a bra with a matching pair of underwear. This helps take the guesswork out of getting a working, coordinated set.
Before we get into the other types of lingerie, let's take a second to understand the materials that made these undergarments. It's important to know what something is made out of so that your girl doesn't feel uncomfortable in the clothing you've taken the time to research and get her.
- Cotton is the most common material and is the great not only for look and feel, but for health reasons as well. Cotton undergarments are easier to wash (washer to dryer to body) and work very well when the girl is very active. Cotton panties aren't always just a simple pair of colored underwear as they are being more decorated with patterns, ribbons and lace.
- Silk/Satin give the upscale look and feel to underwear. For these it's best to hand-wash them so they keep that appearance for years to come. The smooth almost slippery feel that they have has made them a popular choice.
- Leather is another material that underwear can be made from. Leather underwear is usually more expensive, but the material can feel real good against the skin and give another high class appearance.
- Lycra is a great material because it provides stretch. For panties, it prevents the visible panty line and gives seamless support. You don't typically find all-Lycra items, they are usually paired with cotton or nylon material.
Finally, there are certain items that your girl will wear over her bra and panties. These types of lingerie can complete a delicious appearance and also serve functional purposes for the wearer.
- A corset is a tight-fitting top made of stiff, sturdy material. The corset serves the purpose of slimming down the woman so she can fit into smaller items of clothing. It also helps her by lifting her breasts to give them a fuller look. Most corsets are held with adjustable lacing in the back.
- Camisoles (or camis) are a short top that fits loose on the woman that goes down to the waist.
- A bustier is, essentially, a strapless bra that goes all the way down to the waist. Some bustiers come with garter straps attached. They can come with or without matching panties.
